Postgraduate and Research
Doctoral Degree (PhD)
Currently we offer a PhD in Mathematics Education based on the expertise that is available. Entry to the programme is via written application and a short-written proposal. Students wishing to apply must have a MEd or equivalent degree, in which at least 50% of the degree must compromise a research project. The student should submit a curriculum vitae with references, and a proposal of the doctoral research they intend to do. They should have an average of at least 65% in their Master’s degree, including a minimum of 65% in their research project.
Note that the entry into this programme is highly competitive and students go through a selection procedure. Entrance is also restricted by the availability of supervisors.

Masters Degree (M.Ed)
We offer full dissertation masters in areas of expertise of staff. Entry to the full dissertation programme is via written application and a short-written proposal. Students wishing to apply must have an honours or equivalent degree in a field relevant to mathematics education. The student should submit a curriculum vitae with references. They should have an average of at least 65% in their honour’s degree, including a minimum of 65% in any research project completed as part of the honours

Bachelors Degree Honours (B.Ed Hons)
This is a 2 year part-time qualification which prepares students for further postgraduate study by developing research related skills and also contributes to their professional development with regards to teaching. This is a combined programme for Mathematics, Science and Computer Science specialists and the modules are either taught separately for each specialisation or together for more generic modules.
The programme is currently structured for part-time students with lectures in school holidays, on Saturdays or late afternoons. There is an intake every second year – the next scheduled intake will be 2022.
